About Nicola Semple

I’m Nicola Semple, Mindset and Mindfulness Coach and a passionate advocate of living your own version of a good life well lived.

I have a breadth of experience and a wide variety of tools in my toolkit to support you:

When I work with clients my number one priority is to get results.

When we work together I expect complete honesty so that we can quickly get to the heart of what is going on.

In between our sessions I will give you work to do and I expect you to do the work.

The results only come when you go all in, when you make the commitment to bring your whole self and when you DO THE WORK.

Let Me Tell You A Story….

When my daughter was a baby she was a terrible sleeper. From the minute she popped out she was wide awake.

My mum (mother of four, grandmother of five) still regales anybody that will listen of the story of how my daughter stayed awake the entire night after she was born. 

I didn’t know it at the time but this is not regular newborn behaviour.

This continued for over two years. Unless we were out walking in the pram or travelling in the car it would take at least forty five minutes, often up to two hours to settle her to sleep.

We tried everything. We bought sleep systems from all the gurus, sheepskin rugs to make her comfy and cosy, swaddles, swings, slings, soothers.

You name it, we tried it.

Every time I ordered a new gadget/book/blanket etc  I always hoped ‘this is it – we’re finally going to crack it’.

But we never did.

By the time I was pregnant with my son I was at the end of my tether. How on earth was I going to cope with a toddler that rarely slept and a newborn?

A friend suggested homeopathy. I was deeply sceptical but at that point if you had told me it would help to shave my head and dye my scalp pink, I would have booked an appointment with the hairdresser quick smart!

 

The homeopath was a lovely lady but I sat there thinking ‘this is a complete waste of time’.

She asked me lots of questions about my pregnancy, the birth and my daughter’s personality and habits over the first couple of years of her life. After about 90 minutes of fact finding, she prescribed a remedy.

One tiny little pill, about an eighth of the size of a regular aspirin.

I was even more sceptical.

When we got home I somehow managed to convince my daughter to eat the ‘milky sweety’. Turns out she really liked the taste which was a stroke of luck because like most two year olds, she was a fussy eater and as stubborn as a mule.

That night, I tucked her into bed and went downstairs to turn off the oven, knowing if I left dinner in there while I got her to sleep I would be returning to burnt cinders.

I came back upstairs ready for the usual routine of singing to her, lying with her, doing whatever it took to MAKE HER GO TO SLEEP.

When I walked into her bedroom, I could not believe my eyes. She was asleep.

This had NEVER happened before. It might sound ridiculous but at the age of nearly two and a half, she had NEVER EVER just climbed into bed and fallen asleep of her own accord.

The next day after pre-school, she dosed off on the couch and had a nap. That night she went to bed and after a quick cuddle, she was ready to snuggle down and sleep. It was a miracle.

My husband and I were on cloud nine. We finally had an evening again. We didn’t feel the perpetual frustration of having to spend hours soothing our daughter to sleep. It was amazing.

Three weeks later, she was back to her old ways.  The homeopath had said that the remedy would wear off at some point.

Back we went. A top up of the original remedy and she was settling herself and sleeping soundly.

I’m sharing this with you because I was deeply sceptical of homeopathy but I had to experience it to know it worked.

I now know that no matter what sleep system I tried, what soother I used or what contraption I purchased, none of it was going to solve the problem and help my daughter to sleep.

She had a fundamental imbalance in her system which the homeopathic remedy helped to reset.

You might be feeling a similar level of scepticism when you read about timeline therapy.  You might be thinking ‘I’ve thought that I’m not good enough since I was 10 years old and you expect me to change the way I think, just like that?!’

I know it’s a stretch.

When I first discovered timeline therapy it reminded me of my experience with the homeopath.

At the time I was very clear on my goals and what I wanted to achieve and I was taking action to make it happen. But I wasn’t getting the results on anywhere near the scale that I wanted.

It was only when I uncovered the limiting decisions that I had made and beliefs that I held that I realised how much my subconscious mind was holding me back.

In the same way my daughter need the homeopathic remedy to give her a reset, my unconscious mind needed a reset through timeline therapy.

All I can say is, trust the process, it works.
